Historic Championship Week Begins with “The Semi’s” on Tuesday, August 15, 2023

LONG BEACH, Calif., Aug. 4, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Team Combat League is pleased to announce that the conclusion of its inaugural season will be held at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. On Tuesday, August 15th at 6 pm PST / 9 pm EST “The Semi’s” (Streamed HERE) will be an invite-only event to determine the teams advancing to the first-ever TCL championship bout. MegaBrawl 1, History In The Making, will occur five days later on Sunday, August 20th, at 4 pm PST, 7 PM EST. Streamed HERE.

In the first match of the Semifinals, NYC Attitude, coached by Ryan Oleary and Benny Roman, will face off against the DC Destroyers, coached by Barry Hunter, in the first bout of a doubleheader.

The teams met twice during the regular season and split two tightly contested matchups. Leading Most Valuable Fighter candidate Quincey Williams will seek to avenge his only loss of the season against Cristian Cangelosi of NYC. This contest also marks the return of NYC standout lightweight Sherbek Rhakmatuloyev, who has not fought since suffering a brutal knockout at the hands of Marcel Davidson of Atlanta. He will be fighting Cobia Breedy, seeking to avenge his two previous losses to Rhakmatulloyev in Breedy’s first exposure to the TCL one-round concept. Breedy has been on a tear since that bout, stringing together an impressive 6-2 record over his last eight matchups. In the heavyweight division, NYC rookie sensation Pryce Taylor will be pitted against seasoned pro Norm Neely, who is coming off a stoppage loss at the hands of Greg Hardy of Dallas.

In the Nightcap of the Doubleheader, the 6-1 Atlanta Attack will face off against the 4-4 Las Vegas Hustle. Atlanta prevailed in a controversial decision in the team’s only previous meeting during the regular season. There will be plenty of family intrigue in this matchup. Sam Arnold IIII of Las Vegas Hustle, is slated to fight twice against his father’s Atlanta team. Other matchups of note will be between the two top heavyweights in the league Michael Hunter of Las Vegas and Devon Young of Atlanta. Fans are also eagerly awaiting a rematch of the street fight between Keith Hunter and Javon Young, who are slated to fight in both the Launch Rounds and the Money Rounds of the Contest.

“We have been the most consistent all season and are confident we will prevail against a tough Las Vegas team, “commented Sam Arnold Jr. co-head coach of the Atlanta Attack. “Our team has been a close-knit group all year, and we are fired up to bring home the first TCL Championship to Atlanta, where it belongs,” added Mostaffa Meekins, co-coach of Atlanta Attack.

“It took a while for our team to come together, but this is a different team than the one that faced Atlanta earlier in the season,” countered Dewey Cooper of Las Vegas. “I am confident you will see a different result on August 15th in Los Angeles. When it’s over, I’ll let you know what our secret was, but I am supremely confident we will be competing in MegaBrawl 1, History in the making, and bringing a championship home to Las Vegas.”

Many fighters of teams eliminated in the semis will still compete in the All-Star Match, which will be a part of MegaBrawl 1, History in the Making. The festivities will begin @ 4 pm PST / 7 pm EST with the All-Star Match, followed by the Championship Match, where the first TCL Championship city will be determined. Tickets are available HERE.
