St. John's Catholic Prep High School Baseball Coach Brings RISE Flag Football Powered by Under Armour to Frederick

Patrick Duffy looks forward to bringing almost two decades of experience as an educator to the league that instills leadership and teamwork

FREDERICK, Md., March 22, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Frederick’s youth sports scene is about to get a major boost with the launch of RISE Flag Football Powered by Under Armour, led by Patrick Duffy, a seasoned educator and longtime high school baseball coach. RISE Flag Football, designed to foster a love for the game while instilling essential life skills, is poised to become a beacon of athletic and personal development for the community’s youth. With an extensive background in coaching and education, including 25 years as a high school baseball coach, 18 as an educator and 12 years as an athletic director, Duffy brings a wealth of experience and passion to his latest venture.

“As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand the invaluable lessons that team sports can teach—lessons of resilience, teamwork, and perseverance. With the right guidance, sports can be a powerful tool for personal growth and development.”

As the head varsity baseball coach at St. John’s Catholic Prep, Duffy has long been an advocate for the multi-sport athlete approach, encouraging his players to participate in a variety of sports. Despite no longer serving as an athletic director, his desire to lead and develop youth programs remains strong. RISE Flag Football aligns perfectly with Duffy’s coaching philosophy, providing kids with the opportunity to learn and play football in a safe and supportive environment.

“RISE Flag Football offers kids the chance to not only learn the game of football but also to grow as individuals in a team environment,” says Duffy. “As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand the invaluable lessons that team sports can teach—lessons of resilience, teamwork, and perseverance. With the right guidance, sports can be a powerful tool for personal growth and development.”

More than just a sports league, this initiative aims to provide a nurturing environment for young athletes to not only grasp the fundamentals of flag football but also cultivate crucial traits such as leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Flag Football League in Frederick. This league is not just about the game; it’s about shaping well-rounded individuals who can excel both on and off the field,” said Owner and CEO TJ Lane.

RISE Flag Football League will provide a safe and supportive environment for young athletes to discover their potential in Frederick, but is also vital to the local community. Not only will RISE provide an avenue for young individuals to engage in physical activity and promote healthier lifestyles, these leagues bring families together and foster the growth of well-rounded individuals posed to become future leaders within their community.

The league is starting the new year with much to be proud of. The organization has seen remarkable expansion, including engaging over 25,000 enthusiastic youth and providing them a platform to learn, grow and excel both on and off the field, securing a monumental partnership with global sports brand Under Armour, and signing 75 agreements with owners in local markets across 20 states.
