COLLEGE PARK, Md., Sept. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Coming off its success last year, Fig Factor Media will present the Latinas in Aviation Second Annual Global Festival which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at the M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation’s College Park Aviation Museum and Airport, 1985 Corporal Frank Scott Drive in College Park, Maryland.

The family-friendly event, a partnership with Fig Factor Media and College Park Aviation Museum, welcomes pilots who are featured in Fig Factor Media’s “Latina in Aviation” book as they fly into College Park Airport which is also known as the Field of Firsts because it has held many “first” events. These pilots will share sharing their unique experiences and passion for aviation as well as participate on contributor author panels and presentations. Other activities include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, “Latinas in Aviation” book signing, mentorship circles, scholarship opportunities and more.

The event will also launch the newest book in the “Latinas in Aviation” series: “Latinas in Aviation Vol. II, Maryland Edition” and will be available for purchase. Fig Factor Media partnered with the M-NCPPC (Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission), Department of Parks and Recreation’s College Park Aviation Museum, and Field of Firsts Foundation to create this book. More information about the book will be coming soon.

“Latinas in Aviation” creator Jacqueline S. Ruiz is ready to launch the second edition of this festival and many more in the future.

“We are very excited to do this event with the museum again,” Ruiz said. “The first event attracted about 300 people and representatives from companies. We want to invite more influencers and media and make more connections. Launching this first-of- a-kind event last year has taught us so many things and we will make some magic happen in 2022.”

College Park Aviation Museum Director Kevin Cabrera is happy to see the return of the festival and is working on creating a permanent “Latinas in Aviation” exhibit that honors the achievements of Latina pilots.

“I welcome the chance to work with Fig Factor Media on returning to the museum to bring the second edition of this festival,” Cabrera said. “I’m reengaging with partners and sponsors and hoping to bring back those authors from the first festival and new ones to share their stories. I share Jackie’s vision in making this event into a tradition.”
