Collapse of the Climate House of Cards Speeds Up with New CLINTEL Report on IPCC says Friends of Science

CLINTEL has issued a review of the IPCC AR6 reports and an open letter to Dr. Hoesung Lee, Chair of the IPCC, on the misrepresentations in the report, says Friends of Science Society. Banks, the finance sector and insurance companies are using climate models developed by parties with extreme Conflicts of Interest, as Jessica Weinkle testified to the US Senate.

CALGARY, Alberta, June 28, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Catastrophic climate change proclamations by UN Sec. Gen. Antonio Guterres such as his March 23, 2023 statement that ‘climate change is making earth uninhabitable‘ were given another blow as CLINTEL issued “The Frozen Views of Climate of the IPCC” on May 25, 2023, says Friends of Science Society. CLINTEL’s assessment of the latest reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reveals that there is no climate emergency. Media and officials like UN Sec. Gen. Guterres have been misleading the public with statements like “Code Red for humanity” when this is not what the IPCC Working Group I Physical Sciences report says. See CLINTEL’s open letter to Dr. Hoesung Lee.

As the climate house of cards crumbles, efforts are being made to criminalize climate dissent as explained in this Friends of Science video. In March of 2023, shortly after the Synthesis version of the IPCC AR6 report was completed, the UN General Assembly escalated the climate file, at the request of the tiny nation of Vanuatu, to the International Court of Justice, asking for an opinion on the requirement for climate compliance by nations.

The Paris Agreement is voluntary and not legally binding. Since the Clintel report shows there is no climate emergency, such legal overreach is unnecessary and would not be founded upon sound evidence, says Friends of Science Society.

The Western Standard of May 19, 2023, reported that in Canada, Minister Stephen Guilbeault has threatened Premier Scott Moe with criminal action if the coal fired power plants in Moe’s province of Saskatchewan are not shut down by 2030. Saskatchewan sees minus 40° Celsius/Fahrenheit temperatures in winter. Brian Zinchuk of Pipeline Online has pointed out wind and solar are completely unreliable; the consequences would be deadly for people, as outlined in this Friends of Science video.

A further exposé of the climate house of cards occurred on March 1, 2023, when Prof. Jessica Weinkle testified to the US Senate that the banks, the finance sector and insurance companies are using climate models that were developed by parties with extreme Conflicts of Interest. Some points:

  • Central bank stress testing scenarios are developed by researchers who are also lead authors on IPCC reports and have important roles in organizing the international modelling community in the development of IPCC scenarios. Funding for central bank scenario development and the most recent meeting of the scenario modelling community comes from influential organizations including, Bloomberg Philanthropies, ClimateWorks, and the Bezos Earth Fund.
  • McKinsey & Company used a climate consultancy to produce a series of widely influential reports on climate change financial risks. In defence of their use of RCP8.5 the report cited a peer-reviewed publication written by its own consultants.

The researchers did not declare their COI as consultants for McKinsey or their association with the asset management firm, Wellington.

Friends of Science notes that “RCP 8.5” is implausible as a projection of the future. Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) are a set of different scenarios of greenhouse gas emissions based on different forecasts of population and economic growth rates. RCP 8.5 forecasts replacing natural gas with coal for producing electricity with little nuclear or renewable energy. This paper says “This return to coal hypothesis: (i) represents a significant discontinuity in historical primary energy development trends.” Forecasts with “high CO2 forcing from vast future coal combustion are exceptionally unlikely.” This article in Nature says “Emission pathways to get to RCP8.5 generally require an unprecedented fivefold increase in coal use by the end of the century, an amount larger than some estimates of recoverable coal reserves”. Robert Lyman, former public servant and diplomat has written a report explaining why RCP8.5 is implausible and unsuited for setting climate policies.

Friends of Science Society produced a video challenging the Bank of Canada on its first climate risk assessment report, incorporating Weinkle’s findings.

In Canada, the Senate, which is supposed to be the ‘chamber of sober second thought’ has developed a climate activism sector, pushing for a climate-aligned finance bill with draconian legislation against oil, gas and coal development. The ‘Senators for Climate’ supporters and endorsers come from the environmental charity and investment sector. As Prof. Weinkle explained to the US Senate, these kinds of groups are conflicted as they fund and feed each other.

Robert Lyman’s latest report assesses the economics of global climate policy and finds decarbonization and NetZero is “Not Worth the Money.

About
Friends of Science Society is an independent group of earth, atmospheric and solar scientists, engineers, and citizens that is celebrating its 21st year of offering climate science insights. After a thorough review of a broad spectrum of literature on climate change, Friends of Science Society has concluded that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2).
