TORONTO, Feb. 7, 2025 /CNW/ – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) will hold a media conference in Toronto on Monday to call for Ontario’s hospital CEOs and the next provincial government to implement registered nurse (RN)-to-patient ratios.

ONA President Erin Ariss, RN, two front-line nurses, Ontario New Democratic Party (ONDP) Leader Marit Stiles and Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) President Laura Walton will deliver remarks as nurses across the province deliver Valentine cards to their CEOs, urging them to have a heart and implement the nursing ratios.

Safe nurse staffing levels is the top bargaining priority for ONA’s hospital members, who are fighting to improve patient access to timely, high-quality care. Their goal is to put patient care first by stopping the provincial government and hospital CEOs from funnelling taxpayer dollars to private clinics, siphoning off more staff and draining the coffers of our public system. ONA’s demands for the next provincial government are much the same.
