NORTHGATE GONZÁLEZ MARKET DONATES OVER $239,425 TO SUPPORT LATINO LABORERS AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY RECENT WILDFIRES

ANAHEIM, Calif., Feb. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In the wake of devastating wildfires that ravaged Eaton Canyon and the Pacific Palisades, Northgate González Market has extended a helping hand to the Latino community, which makes up nearly half of Los Angeles County’s population. From day laborers to restaurant workers, nannies, and housekeepers, many have been profoundly impacted.

Through the “Unidos Por Nuestra Comunidad” initiative, Northgate Market called upon its customers across 44 stores in Southern California to round up their purchases, and $139,425 was raised. Matching this with an additional $100,000, Northgate Market raised a total of $239,425 to support wildfire victims.

At a heartfelt luncheon held at their corporate headquarters in Anaheim, the owners of Northgate Market personally presented enlarged checks to two nonprofits on the frontlines of relief efforts: Alma Family Services and the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights (CHIRLA).

“At Northgate González Market, our commitment to community goes beyond the walls of our stores—it’s woven into the fabric of who we are. The ‘Unidos Por Nuestra Comunidad’ initiative reflects that deep sense of responsibility all of us feel. When our neighbors are facing hardship, we stand together as one family. We are incredibly proud of the compassion shown by both our associates and customers, whose generosity has made this donation possible,” said Miguel González, Co-President of Northgate González Market.

“We thank Northgate Gonzalez Markets for their generosity and for supporting CHIRLA’s iRelief Fund to help provide immediate assistance to some of the most vulnerable families who were impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles,” said Anabella Bastida, director of Membership and Member Services at CHIRLA.

“We are profoundly grateful to the González family and Northgate González Market for their exceptional generosity and leadership in standing with our community. Their unwavering commitment comes at a crucial time, reinforcing Alma Family Services’ ongoing efforts to provide relief and vital resources to families impacted by the wildfires,” said Lourdes Caracoza, Alma’s President/CEO.

In addition to fundraising, Northgate Market partnered with Los Angeles County Supervisors and local Red Cross shelters, delivering tamales, pan dulce, groceries, hygiene kits, and water to those displaced by the fires.
