NEW HAMPSHIRE TEAMSTERS CELEBRATE HOUSE VOTE AGAINST "RIGHT TO WORK" BILL

Union Coalition Blocks Anti-Worker Legislation from Being Forced on State Residents

CONCORD, N.H., Feb. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Teamsters Local 633 is celebrating their successful mobilization against anti-worker legislation after the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted for indefinite postponement of any further progress for House Bill 238 (HB 238), which would impose a “right to work” law on the state. “Right to work” is a lie designed to weaken workers’ rights and lower wages.

“Lawmakers recognized this effort for what it was: an attempt by out-of-state billionaires to hijack our legislative process so they could force a harmful anti-worker agenda down our throats,” said Jeff Padellaro, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 633. “This was nothing but an attack on working families and we are proud to have stopped it.”

After a bill is indefinitely postponed by New Hampshire lawmakers in the lower chamber, a vote of two-thirds of house members is required to resurrect the legislation for a full floor vote. Teamsters led a multi-union coalition in mobilizing against HB 238 from the very first day it was introduced.

“We spoke out against this legislation because the pay and benefits that we bargained for as Teamsters need to be protected,” said Scott Gove, a Teamsters member from UPS Northfield and Local 633 Recording Secretary. “We don’t our want wages, health care, or workplace safety to decay, so we will continue to tell any outside group that’s pushing ‘right to work’ to get the hell out of our state for as long as we have to.”

Chartered in 1934, Teamsters Local 633 represents thousands of hardworking men and women throughout New Hampshire. For more information, go to teamsters633.com.
