CORONA, Calif., May 29, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Two legendary cowboys ride into the podcast! Monster Energy is proud to welcome professional bull riding athletes Boudreaux Campbell and Chase Outlaw on Episode 311 of the sports and pop culture podcast UNLEASHED with The Dingo, Danny, and Brittney.
Recorded at Studio M inside Monster Energy headquarters in Corona, California, the one-hour episode goes deep into the world of bull riding with two of the finest on the circuit: 24-year-old Campbell from Crockett, Texas, was named 2020 Rookie of the Year on the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) promotion. Hailing from Hamburg, Arkansas, 30-year-old Outlaw is a five-time State Champion and took a podium spot in the 2019 PBR World Championships.
Looking at his career and the opportunities that professional bull riding has afforded, Outlaw said: “I just told Boudreaux it’s a pretty spectacular life we live here. I said, look where we’re standing. We’re just some old country boys and just doing what we love and look at where it’s brought us!”
For the full conversation with two bona fide cowboys, fans can now tune in to Episode 311 of UNLEASHED with The Dingo, Danny, and Brittney Fueled by Monster Energy. Released today, the new podcast is streaming on all major platforms, including Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube.
Some people are born to be cowboys, including Campbell and Outlaw. Outlaw rode calves at only four- years old and started riding bulls at 10. Campbell was raised in Texas, living the cowboy lifestyle – mutton busting at age four – and turned pro at the age of 17 in 2017. Blessed with natural talent, both have awards to show for their dedication to bull riding: Campbell won the 2019 PRCA Reserve World Championship title and became PBR Rookie of the Year in 2020. Outlaw took third place in the 2019 PBR World Championships and is one of the main ambassadors for the sport with a global fanbase. Learn what separates the pros from the amateurs in this gnarly sport and dive into the cowboy life – exclusively on UNLEASHED!
Hear the inside story in conversation with the three podcast hosts, Australian action sports personality Luke “The Dingo” Trembath, professional snowboarder Danny Kass, as well as painter, model, and UFC ambassador Brittney Palmer. Tune in right here.
“We were raised on a farm and had calves, so we were always around the rodeo. We just did it when we saw it on TV. ‘Heck, that’s what I want to do when I grow up!” said Outlaw about his beginnings in the sport.
The episode goes deep into the background of the two decorated cowboys, including a little-known fact about Campbell’s first name, Boudreaux: “My dad just started me calling me that when I was born. My real name is Jason, but don’t tell anybody that. He started calling me that when I was little, so that’s what everybody calls me!” And Chase’s last name actually is ‘Outlaw’, confirmed on UNLEASHED!
Speaking of ‘unleashed,’ what actually goes through a bull rider’s mind when the gate drops, and the bull is set loose? “Nothing!” said Campbell. “You just have to find a way to get past that fear factor that’s there in the back of your mind. Like, something can happen. I guess that’s the difference between being average and great; you got to get over that fear factor.”
What’s more, every bull has a mind of its own, said Outlaw: “It’s going to do something different. You can watch a hundred videos of that bull, but you can’t set up a plan. It takes more than a second to react to a thought process. But by that time, you’re already hurt. You just have to trust your ability and trust whatever you got going.”
Outlaw turned pro in 2012 and proceeded to win big-ticket events right away. “There’s no practice for riding a real bull,” said Outlaw: “You have to tell yourself you can do it. Because your mind is the most powerful thing.”
Campbell turned professional in 2017 and became the PRCA Reserve World Champ in 2019. Asked about the key to surviving against a 2000-pound bull. “My rule is when I buck off and hit the ground, get out of the way. Get out of the way as fast as you can.”
