To start this Happy March 14th, also written 3/14 and lovingly known as Pi day (3.14). What is Pi? Pi != Pie. Well Pie is (tastefully) circular and Pi does have to do with circles but lets skip that.
What is Pi? Pie is much more than 3.14
Pi is the number you get when you divide a circle with its diameter. Put simply, it is a number that is non terminating (NT) and non repeating (NR). Pi does show up in many instances and can be predicted as we can divide any given circle with its diameter right? Well that’s tricky.
Google breaks grounds! Happy Pi day!
Google announced today that they have calculated to the 31.4 trillionth digit of pie; in essence a very happy pi day!
Why is this a big deal?
Well Google likes to make things big, waiting to announcing this feat on March 14th, but this does note a huge accomplishment in algorithmic technology today highlighting the power of Cloud Computing and giving major credit to Google for utilizing it to solve a problem using dedicated machines.
