American Trucker Trade Group Makes Plea to Canadian Parliament to Withhold Approval of Trudeau's Use of Emergencies Act Against Freedom Convoy Truckers

WASHINGTON, Feb. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Small Business in Transportation Coalition (“SBTC”), an American-based 501(c) 6 business league operating through the domain Truckers.com, which has over 500 dues-paying trucker and motor carrier members in Canada, has asked Canadian Parliament to withhold approval of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s use of the “Emergencies Act” against ‘Freedom Convoy’ truckers to freeze bank accounts in order to quash dissent and deny them the right to petition their government for redress of grievances.

Canadian Parliament is set to debate what the SBTC contends is a ‘Draconian Nuclear Option’ move today; that is, to use extraordinary war powers-like means to end the three-week long ‘Freedom Convoy,’ a grass roots blue collar movement which has started to spread throughout the world.

“Make no mistake… this is no longer about freedom to make medical decisions. This is now about government’s tyrannical use of emergency powers meant to deal with terrorists to quash dissent and inflict economic harm on individual protesters who are invoking their right to petition their government for redress of grievances,” SBTC Executive Director James Lamb said today. “Mr. Trudeau is essentially saying: ‘Shut up and do what I say or I will fine you, imprison you, and starve you and your children into submission by freezing your bank accounts.’ These are not the actions of an Honorable humane government,” Lamb added.

The SBTC is today appealing to the wisdom and common sense of the ‘White Hats’ in Canadian government to draw the line and send a message to Mr. Trudeau, the Liberal party, and the world that this is not what Canada stands for.

“Having worked at 2 World Trade Center back in 2000, I remember what terrorism is. Truckers are not terrorists, Mr. Trudeau. Please don’t pretend they are in order to empower yourself to be the dictator you have said you admire,” Lamb said. Lamb points to this video clip to back up his statement.

“Furthermore, pointing to a random Nazi flag at the Canadian trucker protest is like pointing to the guy wearing a Milwaukee Brewers cap at Yankee Stadium. Totally out-of-place, insignificant, and very much irrelevant in the big scheme of things. The American small business trucking industry will not stand idly by while our trucker brothers to the North are abused in this fashion and their rights trampled on. We implore Parliament to terminate this inhumane abuse immediately and figure out another way to resolve this conflict,” Lamb said.

The SBTC is running a poll to determine what truckers think of Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act to freeze truckers’ banks accounts to quash the protest. Thus far, over 90% of respondents are reporting they disagree with the move and believe Trudeau is himself terrorizing Canadian citizens.
